Betsy DeVos’ Commitment to the growth of Communities across the United States

Betsy DeVos is a well-established American businesswoman who is well known for her outstanding contributions to charity. She is devoted to supporting children from low-income families to access a decent education that can enable them to have a bright future. Mrs. DeVos is a co-administrator of the Dick and Betsy DeVos Family Foundation. She established the organization with her husband in 1989, and it is committed to supporting community-related activities such as art, education. Leadership, and Christian missions. The DeVos family is greatly appreciated for its generosity, and it donated more than $139 million in 2015. It was rated among the top 30 liberal individuals in the United States.

 

The DeVos family has been a benefactor to several organizations that work towards building communities. One of its beneficiaries is the Success Academy Charter Schools, which was offered a $150,000 donation in 2015. In the same year, the couple contributed $200,000 to a Christian-based organization that is known as Potter’s House School. The learning institution was established to enable children from disadvantaged backgrounds to access quality education that can unlock their potential. Betsy and her husband have also supported various hospitals, arts centers, and Christian foundations. The Baptists for Life and Michigan’s Pregnancy Resource Center are examples of institutions that have benefited from them.

 

Apart from being a renowned philanthropist, Mrs. DeVos serves the U.S government as the 11th secretary of education. She was offered the position by President Trump in February 2017. Betsy is currently striving to change the country’s education system so that it can provide equal opportunities to all children. She volunteered at the Grand Rapids Public Schools, and this enabled her to know how difficult it was for disadvantaged people to get a decent education. This motivated her to start education-based campaigns that have currently impacted over 25 states.

 

Betsy worked at as a co-chair of the Windquest Group before she was hired by the Trump administration. The company is owned by her husband who also serves as its CEO. She also worked at institutions such as Kids Hope USA and the Mars Hill Bible Church. Mrs. DeVos attended Calvin College for her degree in art.

 

The Republican Party acknowledges Betsy for her outstanding contributions. She joined politics more than three decades ago by serving as a volunteer. Mrs. DeVos became an official member of the Michigan Republican Party in 1982. Her presence at the party had a positive impact, and therefore, she was appointed as a delegate for several terms. She also had an opportunity to serve as chairperson of the Michigan Republican Party and held the position for four years. Betsy DeVos has been advocating for the party’s policies and has also offered donations to support its operations.
